i was wondering if any of you guys have some helpful bow hunting techniques? I'll be going bow hunting this season for the first time. Found out I'm actually pretty good at it so my father is wanting me down there this season. It should be a blast. Any help is appreciated.

if you start to draw your bow back on a deer and it stops or if it is stopped and looks up at you, keep drawing back smoothly. If you stop mid draw you will probably not be able to hold it and the deer will run.think about making the shot, not oh no the deer is going to run.STAY as CALM as possible.

When i shoot Blow the air slowly out of my lungs to help steady my shot, keep my hand on the handle openwith my writs pointing NOT my finger tips, i rest the bow clasps (the thing that clips to the string its self) on the corner of my lips, align the two circles and dot perfectly and over so slightly pull the trigger. Once the bow has struck I then let my bow down.

Those are just a few pointers my father taught me. He's a bow hunting freak. I mean its ridiculous, lol.

that'll work.I've always used my thumb nail as my anchor point, kinda hard to explain but the flat part of my thumb nail is against the hing muscle of my jaw.As long as you do it the same way and practice often you'll have no problems until it's a live target, then you have to worry about heart attacks black outs and adrinaline over load.OOOOHHH but there's nothing else like it. cheers

ROFL, It would be awesome to kill an Elk for my first bow hunt up at my uncles, but he charges like 2k i think to do a hunt like that. But you actually go and camp out and follow them with a guide. its like a 2-3 day ordeal. his ranch is 1800 acres, so you could roam for t weeks and not see the same spot twice.

I'd love to do that myself but my dream hunt is Caribou during the Alaskin migration. You might want to start off with a whitetail doe first. 30 yrds from a 100 lb animal is not as spooky as 30 yrds from a 1200 lb animal. If jsims1 ever comes online he can talk more with you about elk, bear, deer, cougar, prong horn and more. He'll be all over the fishing section and yes sir he can fish.He is a one of a kind.Back to the bow for another tip I 'll draw the bow and holdit longer and longer over time until I can hold it for 1 to 2 minutes. This really helps out when season arrives and your in the woods

Ya, I haven't tried holding it as long as I can. I know I can atleast hold a 70 pound pull for a minute no problem but i start havin muscle failure just a few seconds after that.

I worked on his ranch a few summers ago and I must say HOLY [censored]. I took the fourwheeler out to go check on the deer pins for coyotes and came across one of the elk there. The dude was hhuuuggee. He's also got a super rare albino White stag there that is freakin huge.

I have been shooting from 30 yards up to 40 yards away.

Consistency and repition are key. The hardest part is trying not to fall of the tree due to excitement.

ahaha, ya I've used my fathers tree climber before and that thing gives you about 2 feet to sit/stand on. It'll def take some practice getting used to that position while tryin to draw the bow.
